New 2020 Government Regulations state that private landlords are required to inspect and test the fixed electrical installation in all properties.

All Private Landlords, Estate Agents and Letting Agents need to ensure and certify that their housing stock has been inspected and tested, complying with the latest legislation and regulations.

Understanding Your Requirements

All Private Landlords, Estate Agents and Letting Agents need to:

  • Ensure that their housing stock is safe and complies with the latest legislation and regulations
  • Certify that electrical installations have been inspected and tested prior to the start of a new tenancy (from 1st July 2020)
  • Provide all tenants and letting agents with a copy of an up to date EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report)
  • Guarantee electrical safety checks are carried out on any existing tenancies by 1st April 2021
  • Employ a reliable qualified electrician or firm that is a member of an accredited registration scheme operated by a recognized body in the electrical industry
  • Update homes and communal areas to meet risk assessments, insurance requirements and health and safety standards.
